No one is exempt from the Theriault humor eh mon onc. . .even your own sister!
The Holloman tour for me is winding down rapidly! Tomorrow Liza and I are flying out to S. Cal for a fellow 2Lt's wedding, and to see the family. After that, next week is my last week here. The plan was to relax and spend Quality Time (Q.T.) with Liza, but we BOTH have to move. Anyways, this last Sunday I earned my private pilot's liscence. Woo hoo. So I am one of the newest civilian pilots, pretty scarry huh?
Hope all is well. Is raytheon still taking up a lot of your time, or you hanging out with ma tante? Give her and Lily a kiss for me.
See you, Eric "ET" Theriault
NOTE: Eric (Oneil, Denis, Joachim, Joseph) is the 10th great-grandson of Jehan and Perrine Terriot. He and his wife, Liza are both 2nd Lieutenants in the US Air Force. Eric and Liza are currently in the process of moving thus their e-mail address (shown above) has been shut down for the time being.
Hello,
My name is Jason Theriault son of Nelson and Lucille Theriault of Frenchville, Maine. My Father is the son of Felix and Gabrielle Theriault also of Upper Frenchville, Maine. I know it's such a small town that you must know my father. My wife Teresa was surfing the internet when she stumbled upon your web site. Very nice job! The last time I saw any Theriault family history was during the Acadian Festival a few years back when the Theriault family was honored. We find it very interesting to learn the history behind our name. As for our history, I left Northern Maine in 1991 after graduating from Wisdom High School to serve our country in the US Navy. I served 8 years and am now working for Sikorsky Aircraft of San Diego, CA. I met my beautiful wife Teresa Theriault (Rainer) of Longmont, CO in 1997. She was also serving in the US Navy. We married on September 1999 in Laughlin, Nevada. Soon we will be adding another member to the Theriault name when we have our first born. We are also planning a trip to Northern Maine in September to visit the family. We are very excited to explore your web site further. If you are interested we can also send photos you can add to your database.
Great Job!!
Jason and Teresa Theriault
NOTE: Jason is a 10th great-grandson of Jehan and Perrine Terriot. A member of the Joseph and Théogénie Thériaut Great-Branch, he is a 2nd great-grandson of Joseph, and most important, the son of one of my dearest first cousins,Nelson Theriault. Welcome home, Jason.
Oh my GOOOOODDD!!!! When do you find the time to do this stuff???
I had not realized that you had developed your own Website and that you were doing such a wonderful job documenting the important events in your life. It has a very nice flow to it, of course your writing talent is very evident, some humor too, for those of us who know you, a very enjoyable experience, I especially enjoy the background music!! You have to teach me, oh that's right I have alot of time of my hands now I could probably learn to do this myself, huh?
Look, I'm still trying to figure out how come this new computer is so gifted and talented that the monitor shuts itself off if I walk away for more that 15 minutes, then I can't turn the stupid thing back on. GWK is reading until he goes blind, doesn't do me a damn bit of good.... so far.
I am so proud of you, I going to brag about you to everyone, you wait you'll be famous some day and I'll say "I've known this man all my life!!!!"
My love, Mert
NOTE: My dear sister Mert needs no introduction, but let me give you the introduction anyway. Mert is a 9th great-grand-daughter of Jehan and Perrine Terriot. A member of the Joseph and Théogénie Thériaut Great-Branch, she is a great-grand-daughter of Joseph and Théogénie. From my very first memories of life, I remember my little sister by my side... my life's shadow. Welcome to the web, Sis... some people are always late in getting the word. By the way, GWK is Mert's loving husband, George W Kemzura... some day, there will be a second St-George.
Hello, I am a Theriault from New-Brunsuick. Daughter of Damase and grand-daughter of Joseph and great-grand daughter of Honoré (Pierre, Michel).
Many of may uncles moved to the States during or after the war.
Personnally, I am French and proud Acadian, I have 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
I am sure that somewhere in the line we must be parents.
Nice to go on your site. Saw the picture of you and your wife and you really look like a Theriault.
Clara Theriault
Hi Ralph,
Email software at my work is Eudora, at home it is AOL. Both are coming with the same attachments.
Yeah dad and mom both had the bug! Not sure if it was the flu but that bad anyhow. Dad seems to be more up to par now and mom still has a horrible cough!
My husband Ashley and I are leaving today at noon to go home for a week. (The County) Ashley calls it the north pole. We are heading up to do snow mobiling. Staying mostly at my aunts camp at the lake. (Paul & Carline St. Amand <she is mom's sister)
Has Tante Jackie and Uncle Bob moved into their new house?? I saw it at our family gathering this past Fall but it was still incomplete. They were very excited about the whole thing.
I have some photos I will scan for you when I get back from vacation of our family gathering, last fall........have a nice video too......but of course we can not put that on there.
You take care, our best to your family.
Stay Warm it sure is cold here in Maine!
Nicole
Hi, Ralph. You made your cousin cry! Oneil really got choked up when we played Le Vieux Sapin from your site. It really brought him memories of his Dad and Mom. He remembers both of them singing it around the house and mill. Oneil said the last time he heard that song sung was when he visited you at Vandenburg when your Mom was visiting. You played the piano while everyone sang. What joy web site must bring to many Theriault's. I'm sure you are earning some extra jewels for your crown in heaven because of all your hard work putting it together for everyone's enjoyment.
I'd like to create a CD for Oneil from the music on your website. I've tried saving it to my zip and then copying it from my zip to my CDR, but I can't copy it to the CD as an audio file unless it is in the form of a ".wav" file. When I saved it to the zip (D:) it saved it as a "midi" file. Is there anyway I can save it as a ".wav" file. The only way I know how to create CDs on my PC is using my Easy CD Creator. There might be another way, but I don't know how. I am experienced creating CDs using the Easy CD Creator because I put a text CD in the back of each handbook I sell (we've sold over 250 now!), but I have no experience creating audio CDs. If you have the music on .wav files in your PC, maybe you could email them to me?
By the way, while listening to your music I played around with the sound and found that if I click Midi/Select Output/Riptide WaveStream Synthesizer it sounds the best. the Midi menu is up in the right hand corner where File is usually located.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated it. I want to create a CD that Oneil can listen to on our audio system upstairs and then copy it to cassette tape for Aunt Dora (I don't think she has a CD player).
Thanks a bunch!
Karen
BTW - It's been snowing steadily for hours with 1" snowflakes! It's so beautiful. We've probably got about 2" by now. They canceled church because it's at a higher altitude and there are 8" of snow there. (We've only got about 50 parishioners on a good day, and more than 1/2 are snowed in right now. The rest of us at lower altitudes are not used to using chains). I know, I know, what flatlanders we are! You are probably laughing because we canceled church for 8" of snow!
PS - Buckwheat, our chocolate lab looks like a reverse Dalmation with her brown coat with white snow spots! .
Hi, Ralph.
Oneil and I checked out the new pictures. Oneil recognized one unnumbered person in wedding photo #3. He said the man/boy standing next to person #4 is Jerome a brother of the bride. Oneil also confirms that #7 is Hubert, another brother of the bride.
We're still looking at the site (and really enjoying it -thank you so much!) . I'll write if Oneil recognizes anyone else you don't have a name for.
Hi Ralph and Rosmary
We would like to let you know that Theresa Marquis, has passed away this afternoon. we don have too much info, except that we heard that the funeral will be on Monday. If you need more info you can call us back or anyone else in the family.
Hope everything is fine with you folks. We are doing quite well, doing winter things, snowmobiling, ice fishing, etc.
Thanks again for all the great info that we're getting on the Theriault web sites. You are doing a marvelous job.
Love Guy & Guilmay
If you want more information, email me please. I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Bonjour Jos,
Merci pour votre dernier courriel m’expliquant les modalités relatives aux chercheurs en généalogie./Thank you for your last e-mail regarding researchers and genealogists.
I have always been intrigued by the list of four "missing" children in the family of Joseph and Théogénie. I was able to do some research to try to determine the order of the births of these children in the family of your great-grandparents. And, in the name of the 'Theriault' blood which also flows through me, it gives me pleasure to send you some information regarding this matter.
To begin, I consulted the censuses of Canada of 1891 and 1901. Here is the census information for the family of Joseph and Théogénie taken from the Cenus of 1891 :
1. Noms/Name 2. Lien avec le chef de famille/Relationship to the head of household 3.
Combinés aux renseignements des registres paroissiaux, il est possible d’en arriver à des constatations assez concluantes./The census of 1901 is particularly interesting since it renders the birth dates of the family members. This along with the information taken from the Parochial Registers, it was possible to arrive at the the following conclusions.
1. Noms/Name 2. Lien avec le chef de famille/Relationship to head of household 3. Date de naissance/Birth date 3. Âge/age 4. Lieu de naissance/Birth place 5. Occupation

The following information is taken from the Baptismal and Burial records from the parishes of St-Jacques, St-Hilaire and Edmundston. The data allows us to determine the complete order of birth for the children of Joseph and Théogénie.

De plus, il vaudrait peut-être la peine de vérifier si la madame Rousseau dans une des photos de votre site web n’est pas la marraine de Joachim…/Delphine's birthdate is not in complete agreement between her baptismal certificate and the census of 1901 while Flavie's is within a day of each other. It was not possible for me to find the birth records for Lévite but his burial records indicate that he was just under two years old when he died, which places the birth date around mid-August 1895. In addition, some effort should be taken to verify that the Mrs Rousseau in the photo on your website is in fact Joachim's Godmother.
I hope that this information will allow you to extend your analyses of the history of the family of your (great) grandfather Thériault. As you said so well: the history of the Theriault family is uncovered 'one fact at a time'. It is with pleasure that I forward these details to you with the hope that you will find these interesting and that you will be able to add to your already comprehensive website on the great Thériault family!
Un cousin!

Hello Mr. Theriault,
I hope you had the good fortune of purchasing the "Theriault Genealogy Books" that I and my committee had put together. At least it is a good base for the Theriault families to start their reseach in their respective families. I have also published the "Dube" with its various spellings. It was a two volume set but volume II has sold out. Available is volume I which has the first to the 8th generations and is made similarly like the Theriaults. I tremendously enjoy all your Theriault sites. What a marvelous place to visit.
If you are ever in the St. John Valley, I'd love to meet your aquaintance. I need to learn about creating a website. Any info you can supply is greatly appreciated. Thanks and talk to you later,
Linda Dube
Hi Joe,

I will view these new photos, dad has a lot of old photos and the next time i am up north i will spend the time to look at and possible get some of their old tales.
This past week we had the fun of having dinner at my mom and dad's with Uncle Guy (Guildo) and Tante Gilmay. Funny to hear them talk now as adults. Never knew but I guess bed wetting was common amoungest them has children. Being a large family they all were two to a bed. Those that wet the bed had to sleep on hay filled matresses. They emptied them on the weekend and refilled them from they hay in the barn on sunday, everyone did there own. My unlce Guy commented that in the winter there beds were very cold. But, the hay dried quickly during the day and with all those kids mom and dad could not afford for them to sleep in matresses and ruin them. So until they stop wetting the bed they had to sleep on hay filled pillows. Memere (their mother) made hugh sacks with a sipper this was washed on the weekends as well, before they re-filled them.
Neat story........although in this day and age this might be called neglect. How times change!
LOL
Merry X-mas

This is Guy. Claude is with me.
Claude had come to the house about a month ago and I had showed him your web sites. He was very impressed. He brought with him a few questions that you had about certain things that were unanswered in your genealogy. So we are having a Christmas supper here tonight, and we have Claude & Rolande, Bob & Jackie, Don & Lise. They all had a chance to look at your wonderful site and now we will go to Claude who has a few answers to your questions, hopefully if you didn' t have the answers for these, this will help you out.
We are looking at the site of Joseph t. Theriault: Family's Unsolved Mysteries.
Concerning Benoit Ouellet and Elizabeth theriault 'connection' To identify the branch of the Theriault family to which Elizabeth belonged. The referance comes from Adrien Bergeron,s.s.s. book, " LE GRAND ARRANGEMENT DES ACADIEN AU QUEBEC". The branch of the family to which Elizabeth belonged is. She was the daughter of Abraham & Marie-Reine Gagnon who were married in St. Jean Port Joli Aug 25th. 1811 ( Benoit Ouellet and Elizabeth Theriault were married in Cacouna P.Q. in April 1st.1845 ) Hope this helps you out. Let me know.
Claude
PS: May you and your family have a MERRY CHRISTMAS, pis une BONNE ANNEE.!!
NOTE: Guy is the husband of Guilmay Theriault Michaud (Denis, Joachim, Joseph), who is a member of the 12th generation of Theriault's, a great-grand-daughter of Joseph and Théogénie and a 9th great-grand daughter of Jehan and Perrine Terriot. Claude is Guilmay's younger brother and thus a 9th great-grandson of Jehan and Perrine Terriot.
That is funny he would say that, sounds like something my dad would say. My dad always wanted more kids but mom could not. When my mom's youngest sister's daughter came to live with us for 5 years from an infant to 5 yrs old my dad was tickled! But whne her natural mother came back that was the first itme I ever saw a Theriault man cry. There blood runs thick that is for sure............but it also runs warm, they have the biggest hearts of any family I know. In a heart beat someone would be there to get another out of trouble.
You too have a great Holiday we are spending it in my brother Ricky's new house! He and Rachel have a beautiful new ranch. Although unlce claude calls it a bowling alley cause the foundation is 65' feet long. Ricky never did things small. LOL
MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS!!!!!!
Nicole, Darrell & Ashley

Hello Ralph
This is your cousin Antoine Thériault. As I was surfing on the internet, I found your web site, and I was very happy to see you and Rosemary.
My father told me the history about the picture of Théogénie & Joachim Thériault standing on the porch of the house. This house was on Bellevue Street in Edmundston, N.B., and he told me that grand père Joachim stop there after coming out of the hospital.
I think my father told me that the house belong to the father of his cousin Roland Daigle. I do not know if Théogénie lived there or if she was just visiting the Daigle's family. I have the same picture here in my house.
My family and I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dear Joseph,
I am writing to let you know how much I have enjoyed navigating, exploring and learning from your website. I am a Theriault also and would love to supply you with enough information so that I too, could one day find myself in your archive. My genealogy, like yours, begins with Jehan and Perrine.
As I followed the generations through your archive I found that, sadly, the link for my ancestor Hilairion Charles (your nos. 241, [2630], does not continue. Possibly you already have more information on this man and have just not had the time to enter it. If not, I can give you some information about him, beginning with his marriage to Marie Madeleine Belliveau in abt. 1763 and their subsequent 11 children. I can then follow through the years and generations, eventually leading you to myself, my children and grandchildren. Please let me know if you are interested in continuing this line of the Theriault family.
In any case I have to say WOW, what a huge undertaking and what a beautiful piece of work. I am inspired to work harder at my efforts at information gathering and recording for my family.
Thank-you
Marie Shaw (nee Theriault)

Hi,
My name is Charles Theriault, I'm 25 years old from Toronto, Ontario. My father is Jean-eud Theriault of Edmundston N.B. My gramps is George Theriault borne in 1906 in Caraquet N.B. My Great-Gramps' name is Joseph Theriault.
I must admit that I am impressed with the work you put into the web page. I like it very much. I would like to contribute to it. I'd like to trace my lineage in depth but first I will get more data from my Dad and some of his Sisters/Brother. I'll give you the details of our family, my Dad, 6 sisters and 1 brother and all of their kids, etc... It's going to take a little time, it's not a small family and I want to do a good job and gather accurate information on my family and it's members.
I've never done anything like this and I ask from you for some advice. If you can also tell me what sort of information helps you in registering Theriault family members let me know.
I hope to hear from you soon.
P.S. I've been to Italy too! I recognized Trevi fountain right away! I was there in Oct. of 95.
Joe I was very happy to find your page while doing a Family search,,, I have info at home ( I am at work right now ) but I did have one question, as you can probably see from my e-mail address I to am in the Air Force, I am a firefighter ( ONe of those ERIC needs to FLY safetly ) and I was wondering after seeing Eric Theriault ( The F-15 pilot ) if you had his e-mail address, I would love to contact him sometime.. If you have another e-mail address for you I can use for my address book let me know, I will be in contact with you often.
thanks a bunch

Ralph I was looking at the Theriault family on the web. How nice that is, I saw that you have unknown for Guy, on Genealogy of the Joseph T. Theriault, I don't know what you need. He was born in Fort Kent Maine 6/22/1941, and passed away 9/25/1984. If you want more information of the family let me know. I would like to give you the info. on Irma's kids, granchildren, my kids, granchildren and the rest of the family. Thank-you Rena
I just got your address from Uncle Guy Michaud. My maiden name is Nicole Ann Theriault, daughter of Ino and Nancy Theriault of Lille, Maine. I married in 1987 a Darrell Roger Cyr of Van Buren, Maine. So now my name is Nicole Theriault Cyr.

Joe, I enjoyed your site very much. My wife's mother was Bertha Theriault and lived in Berlin, N. H. all of her life. Did you know any Theriaults while you lived in Berlin?
In picture #2 on your web site I recognize the location of the picture. It was taken at the reservoir at the end of Burgess St. in Berlin.
I have a picture for you, which includes four generations of Theriaults taken around 1932 in Berlin, N. H. In the picture, seated is Albert Theriault (my mother-inlaws brother) with his son Robert, standing on the left is Alphonse (Albert's father) and to his right is Germain ( his father).

Somebody suggested to me that I communicate with you. I'm researching the date of marriage of: François Theriault and Marie Philomene Caron. I know it's approximately in 1866-1867. Their first child was born on 1868 in Fort Kent Maine. The names of their children are Thomas, Joseph,Antoine,Arthémise(Hortance),Octave,Philomène,François,Henri,Victoire and Denise.
Thanks to you. Murielle Ducas(Québec)
Hello there. This is Robert Theriault. I saw your site and was delighted to see so much info on the Theriault's. I am wondering if you have the two Theriault books that were printed for the [family theriault reunion] in Madawaska by Linda Dube. It has quiet a lot of info and pictures. I am hoping to upload my family ancestry by the end of the month. If you don't have these books maybe I might have info for you? Let me know. By the way, 6 generations of my family were printers. The last one was in charge of the printing bureau of canada. He retired in 1933. He was my great, great Grandfather his name was Adelard Theriault.

Hi Joe
Thanks for the prompt reply.
The time frame is about right on and so is the location which is just a few mile from Caraquet, but it is another Théotime Theriault as this one was only and always married to my great aunt. I remember both of them well as I was 8 years old when they made their last visit and my parents corresponded with them until well after WW 2. It's possible they may have been cousins and I feel certain that they knew each other.
I thank you very much for taking the time to check out the information for me. Incidentally there is a Fidèle Theriault who lives not far from me here, he is a historian and writer. I have one of his books " Les familles de Caraquet". It is a Genealogy of the families of the Parishes of Bas Caraquet, Bertrand, Grand Anse, Maisonnette, Paquetville and St. Simon.

Hello
I had the pleasure of visiting your lovely web site this afternoon, congratulations.
I was wondering if you had any information on "Théotime Theriault", married to Thérèse Doucet of Bathurst, NB. Thérèse was my paternal grandmother's sister. Théotime I believe was from the Caraquette/Shippagan area of NB but I am not certain of that. He was born around 1860 / 65.
The two moved to Boston just after the turn of the century and raised several children there. He became an inventor of sorts as he received a patent for an improvement for motorcycles and the proceeds from this made them relatively wealthy. They owned a summer residence at 39 Paul St. Watertown, Mass, and I remember two visits they made to Dalhousie, NB, around 1930 and 1932, when they arrived by chauffeured limousine.
About two years ago I telephoned most of the Theriaults in the Boston directory but could not raise even one descendent although I knew several of their children had married.

Hi Karen & Oneil
How are things with you. Things are ok here we have quite a bit of snow. and we are riding snowmobile quite often this winter, and it's beautiful, and nice to get out in the fresh air in the winter. Did you see Ralph's new Web site for the Theriault family. Boy it's really nice. I just looked at it a bit the other night. WOW there was a lot of work and hours put into there. Guilmay wants me to show her thru the site for a bit. I've downloaded some of the pictures. So the gang around here can see them and maybe help Ralph identify some of the people. Well bye for now, I've got to get to Guilmay, and also I've got to go to work at 4:30 in the morning.
Love, Guy & Guilmay
