In collaboration with Mr. Gaudette's family, the Class of 1958 has established the "George T. Gaudette PHS Class of 1958 Scholarship" to be awarded to a graduating student of Plainville High School.

The idea was raised in the spring of 2009 by the Gaudette family who contacted us to express an interest in funding a scholarship for Plainville High School. Of course, we were excited at the prospect of sponsoring this scholarship. Three of our classmates were pressed into service to form a Scholarship Foundation and to organize a process for managing this scholarship every year. The founding members are Ginny Hill Noel (Chair), Barbara DiNardo Dahlgren (Treasurer),  and J. Ralph Theriault (Secretary, Auditor).

The current Foundation members who were installed in 2010 for four years, are the following:

  • Bob Bocwinski, Chair/Auditor pro tem;
  • Joe Dell'Aquila, Vice-Chair;
  • Barbara DiNardo Dahlgren, Treasurer;
  • Jan Cardany Secretary pro tem;
  • Paul Maskery, Director;
  • Robert Whelan, Director

TO THE PLAINVILLE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS:

We welcome you to our class website. After reviewing this section, feel free to browse through the rest of the site to learn about our class, and read, look and listen to life as it was at Plainville High School in the late 1950's. We look forward to hearing from you with questions about our Scholarship. We will award one scholarship every year in the amount of at least $3000.

Before you proceed any further, we think that it may be helpful for you to know a little about our Senior Class Advisor Mr. Gaudette (to whom we dedicated this Scholarship). So go to the 'George T. Gaudette Biography' section (see navigation bar above) and then return here and we'll tell you about the application process.

To learn about the criteria to qualify for our scholarship and to download the application, go to the 'Scholarship Criteria and Application' section (see navigation bar above).

If at any time, you would like to leave us a message, go to the  "Messages from Our Visitors" posting on our blog and post your comment.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 1958:

HELP BY VOLUNTEERING TO JOIN OUR SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION. Those of you who may be interested in helping by joining the Scholarship Foundation, please contact our current Chair, Bob Bocwinski. In 2012, we will be organizing a new slate of officers and directors for the election of our new Board in 2013. Much of our business is done by e-mail or web conferences. So, you do not need to live in Connecticut to join. Please let us know if you are interested in helping in any way.

HELP WITH YOUR DONATIONS. The Gaudette family will donate the first $3000 for the scholarship and the Class of 1958 will augment the Gaudette family's generous donation with donations however small or large. Members of the families of our fallen classmates are also welcome to submit their donation in honor of their Class of 1958 family member.  So, let's make this a 100% Class of 1958 effort and join the Gaudette family in making this scholarship truly representative of our class. The fact that you joined in with your donation will say more than the amount of your donation. As a rule, every dollar that you donate will go directly to the recipient of our scholarship. Moreover, you will come to know who we are helping because, once the award is made, the graduating senior who is awarded the scholarship will be introduced to our Class on this website in the 'Annual Scholarship Awards' section.

So, send your donation anytime to Barbara and make your checks payable to the "Gaudette - Class of 1958 Fund". Donations received after 15 June will be held for the next fiscal year's award. If you would like to make your donation to the memory of a person, in your note to Barbara please identify the person and your relationship (spouse, brother, friend, etc) with the person.

The Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization. Therefore all donations to the "Gaudette - Class of 1958 Fund" can be listed as deductions on your Federal Tax Return. Please contact our Secretary for any details regarding the status of the Scholarship Foundation .
