Yes
it finally came and then it went, much too fast. It ended up being
a full weekend of festivities, fun, laughter and reconnecting, reminiscing
and so much more.
On Friday night,
those that could, met at Nuchie’s for cocktails and the first round merriment...
Joe & Mary Jean Dellaquila, Eddie & Lola Wishart, Barbara &
Ron Dahlgren, Kenlyn Westergren Lawrence, Ralph Theriault, Punch Lasher,
Frank Castiola, Peter Antonioli, Bruce Atwood & Margie, Bobby Whelan,
Nonie Getchell & Don, Pat Ford, Dave & Dianne Hiltpold, Ronnie
& Missy Pavano, Joel & Sandy Moss, Bruce Bradshaw, Ronnie Distin
and Ginny Hill.
Saturday night,
we all started congregating about 5:30 at Nuchie’s and then it just went
from there. It was a blast from the past for all that attended.
Everyone and I do mean everyone voted it the absolute best ever reunion.
We munched on an excellent spread of hors’d'oeuvres, followed by an equally
excellent meal. However, I bet most people can not even remember
what they had to eat, let alone finish the meal. We were all so busy
table hopping and visiting that time quickly disappeared.
As each couple or
person came in, a shout announced their arrival, then hellos, hugs &
kisses. Ralph T set up a projector... a continuous show of memories.
Barb made name tags for the 47 classmates that attended and Lola Wishart
a special lady, made the picture place cards on the table and that awesome
cake for dessert. Considering that we had 100 in the class and have
lost only 8, that is an excellent turnout. A total of 74 were in
attendance.
Those that came are:
Allan & Brenda Anderson, Peter Antonioli, Bruce Atwood & Margie
Harris, Susan (Avery) & Tom Gilmartin, Fred & Joan Beyer, Bob &
Mar Lee Bocwinski, Harriet (Borajkiewicz) & Mel Morris, Bruce &

After the meal, Bruce
Atwood greeted all and a moment of silence for those we have lost, we were
entertained by Eddie Wishart and the 'Forever Plaid' group singing a medley
of 50’s songs complete with red plaid jackets, bow ties and dance routines.
It was a complete surprise as no one knew beforehand. Then we had
door prizes of bottles of wine donated by Ralph Noel touting his own label.
Prizes were given for:

Twelve states were represented
that evening, Bonnie Coffin and her husband traveled from Oregon just for
the evening and had to be at the airport very early Sunday morning.
California - 2, New York - 1, Massachusetts - 2, Arizona - 2, Illinois
- 1, Oregon - 1, Florida - 3, Virginia - 1, New Hampshire - 3, Texas -
1, Maine - 1 and 29 from all over Connecticut. We did good.
The DJ was excellent
and played music from the 50’s on up, we danced and danced. No one could
be caught sitting or they were quickly pulled up on the dance floor.
We sang along with the songs and it was probably a good thing that we were
one of only two parties that was being held that night and I am sure the
last to leave. Needless to say, most of us closed Nuchie’s that night
as no one wanted the evening to end, it was that GOOD.
Then Sunday morning
quite a few of us gathered at Barb & Ron Dahlgren’s house for brunch
and I would say that there were about 50 people there that morning.
Of course any time you visit Barb’s house, you can’t possibly go away hungry,
she just keeps bringing out the food, just don’t know how she does it.
I know I left at 1:00 PM and I was one of the first, so have no idea what
time that broke up. But again we were all rehashing the evening before,
taking more pictures and reestablishing long ago friendships.
I know lots of pictures
were taken all three days, so please send them along to Ralph Theriault
to include on the web site. Or send them to me or Ginny and we will get
them to Ralph. John Dieli took lots of pictures Saturday night and
was kind enough to send them to me which I will forward on along with ones
I took.
