Marguerite
C. McGrail, of Old Lyme, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Camelot Nursing
Home in New London. She was 92.
Miss McGrail
was born on Sept. 23, 1913, in New Britain, the daughter of John F. and
Margaret S. McGrail. She attended local schools in New Britain, then
went on to the College of New Rochelle, N.Y., for her bachelor's degree,
and then earned her master's degree from New York University.
She held the position of guidance counselor at the Plainville High School
for 44 years until her retirement. She then worked for Briarwood
College for three years.
Miss McGrail
was a long time member of Christ the King Church in Old Lyme, serving as
a member and past president of the Ladies Guild and as a member of the
Old Lyme Senior Club. She founded the Catholic Youth Organization
in New Britain. She loved the time she spent traveling, sitting on
the beach, and reading.
She is survived
by her many cousins and her longtime and dear friend, Irene Matz, and her
family.
A Mass of
Christian Burial was held on Friday, May 26, in Christ the King Church,
Old Lyme. There were no calling hours. Interment will be private
in St. Mary Cemetery in New Britain.
The Fulton
Theroux Funeral Home in Old Lyme is handling the arrangements.
