In Memoriam.
Margaret C. McGrail... Educator, counselor

Thursday, 26 October 2006.
Our good friend, George Gaudette Jr, (the son of another of our good teachers) was kind enough to let us know that we lost another member of our 1958 Plainville High School faculty: Miss Margaret McGrail, this past May 21 at the Camelot Nursing Home in New London. CT. She was 92.

... May she rest in God's peace.
Her obituary follows:

Marguerite C. McGrail, of Old Lyme, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Camelot Nursing Home in New London.  She was 92.

Miss McGrail was born on Sept. 23, 1913, in New Britain, the daughter of John F. and Margaret S. McGrail.  She attended local schools in New Britain, then went on to the College of New Rochelle, N.Y., for her bachelor's degree, and then earned her master's degree from New York University.   She held the position of guidance counselor at the Plainville High School for 44 years until her retirement.  She then worked for Briarwood College for three years.

Miss McGrail was a long time member of Christ the King Church in Old Lyme, serving as a member and past president of the Ladies Guild and as a member of the Old Lyme Senior Club.  She founded the Catholic Youth Organization in New Britain.  She loved the time she spent traveling, sitting on the beach, and reading.

She is survived by her many cousins and her longtime and dear friend, Irene Matz, and her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, May 26, in Christ the King Church, Old Lyme.  There were no calling hours.  Interment will be private in St. Mary Cemetery in New Britain.

The Fulton Theroux Funeral Home in Old Lyme is handling the arrangements.

Donations in memory of Marguerite McGrail, who died on May 21, 2006, may be made to Christ the King Building Fund, 1 McCurdy Road, Old Lyme, 06371.
